What is ExoticCreed

Being an artist and a POC, there’s an expectation that one should spend a reasonable amount of time exploring their race, upbringing, and culture in their works. At least, that’s been the expectation all the way up to the (twenty)20s.

I have a lot to say about those experiences, and I probably will, but that’s not why I write.

I grew up on a trove of mind-bending fiction. The Matrix. CW’s Heroes. Dragonball. And far and away, what has stuck with me most about all of my early inspirations is their weirdness. These are stories that live and die by their courage to exist outside of the box. If I had to describe all of these series in only one word, I’d use unconventional.

That’s the mantra of ExoticCreed. I want to tell mind-bending stories. Stories that move you from A to Z to 3000.

To be Exotic is to be different from your surroundings. To take the left door while the right one is beckoning. But I don’t want to be exotic just for the sake of it. Every story I tell deserves a Creed. Some morsel of purpose and philosophy that guides the psychedelic trip I want to take people on.

You’ll see my pride in being an African-born, black man in the works I write. That will never change. But more than that, the world deserves more unconventional storytelling. Stories that risk losing their audience because their writer had to explore some esoteric idea ‘lest they let it consume them alone.

That’s my promise to you. If you read one of my stories, expect the unknown. Welcome aboard the ride, it only gets stranger from here.

Inspirations include NisiOisin, Jonathan Hickman, Akira Toriyama, Jason Aaron, Jordan Peele, and Nasu. That’s my promise to me. That I never lose my integrity, and that any work I write can stand against theirs as a testament to the irregularity of the human mind.
